Rømø

Rømø is a bird paradise. Migratory birds come in large flocks to the island which lies directly north of the island of Sylt.

In summer the island of Rømø is a popular holiday destination. Less known is the fact, that the island’s size of 129km² also offers a habitat for numerous bird species.

On the way over the dam to Rømø, you can already see the first Great Egrets and Grey Herons who are patiently waiting for the perfect opportunity for a meal. Oystercatchers sit along the approximately 9.2km long dam. On the right and left of the dam you can discover various limicoles, geese and duck species. In the air, Common kestrel and Common buzzard are busy looking for easy prey. The White-tailed Eagle is also a frequent visitor here.
